For Parents - Fine Print

Welcome to the world of Andy Roo.

So what is it all about?

First and foremost; FUN.  Involving your child/ren into the wonderful world of WRITING (story telling).  READING about Andy Roo and his friends adventures as he roams about Australia, and OS.  RAISING funds for a wonderful Australian service; Royal Flying Doctor Service.

How to get going?

On next road trip, holiday or even a backyard adventure.  Get your child/ren to grab their own Andy Roo or favourite toy, take it on their adventure. Just like Andy Roo, get some cool happy snaps on the road and write 300 word or less  story about their expedition.  Including something new they learnt about places visited.

What is the cost?

A AUD5.00 donation directly to Royal Flying Doctor Service.  There is no middle man, or funds to me.  Please click on the RFDS, to take you to the direct link  RFDS donation page, and it is tax deductable (win/win).
Thank you for your support.

What now?

Story written and pictures sorted.  Email me:  andyroo@savannahphotography.com.au with their first name only*, age, story, pictures and copy of receipt from the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and will publish their story on Andy Roo Where Are You site.

It you don't want to email please post story, photographs, or drawings and copy of receipt to my Savannah Photography Post Box.  The address is PO Box 863, EDMONTON QLD 4869.  If you would like the photos/drawings back, please included a self address envelope with postage provided.  Thanks :)

Story doesn't fit into 300 words or 6 pictures?

Make it a two part special or even three, four.  Please note though, for every 300 words and additional pictures, it is AUD5.00 donation to the RFDS for each part.  ie:  600 words & 12 photographs AUD10.00.

How do we know when published?

As soon as get all the details, will post their story and notify you by email.  Please note that sometimes I will be on the road myself, and may not be able to post stories straight away.  Due to travelling in remote locations, but I will always post a note on the blog.  While away will post the stories when humanly and technically possible.

Follow by email?

Another great way to follow Andy Roo adventures and his friends, subscribe by email, and this will let you know when a post has been made on the blog.  Just fill in email address in the box on the right hand side of the page, it's as easy as that.

Technical Stuff - Format

Story:  300 words or less (max 310 words)  Attached to email in Word, PDF, or just put it in the body of the email.

Photographs:  Six (6) photographs only.  JPEG format.  Resize to 600px on longest side, or if you have photography program that says email size that is fine.

No camera; drawing is the next best thing, and creative too.  Scan in, and send as JPEG file.

If I want my own kangaroo; where do I get them from?

In Cairns:  Tourist Shops on Abbot Street, City; about $5.00.  Not living in Cairns, check out the bulk tourist or discount shops they should have them, or contact me and see what we can do.

PRIVACY

Is first and foremost.  Your details are not sold onto or released to anyone.  This site is purely to get children engaged in the world of writing and reading; fun.  Plus raising funds for the RFDS in the proceed.

Very important, if one or more of the photos you are sending contains your child/ren or yourselves, please email me for a release form to be filled out, for authorisation to post the photographs.  Copyright for the photographs always remain with you.

*Only details published, besides their story and photographs/drawings, is your child's first name, age, with their story.  If you do not want that put at the end of their story that is ok, just let me know, and will publish as 'Andy Roo's Friend in NSW or QLD' etc.

No perfections here.

This is all for the kids, and for them to have fun.  No prizes will be given out for the best story, and it doesn't have to be perfect grammar and spelling, as long as they have a go.  This is about them writing a story in their OWN words.  Not to create more work for you.  The kick for them is to interact with other children's stories through the comment box, and seeing their story published on the world wide web.  Plus finding out what Andy Roo has been up to and where he has been lately.
